Seaside Cottage

I grew up & now continue to live in southern California, so of course the beach has always been an important part of my life.  Some day I'd like to have my own seaside cottage, but since that isn't likely to happen soon, I designed these quilts instead.  Whether your tastes run toward romantic vintage florals or cheerful checks, there's something here for you. I've even thrown in a rooster quilt for those of you who love the new trend toward French country decorating.  And every project is easy to make with quick piecing & fusible appliqué, because the sooner you finish, the sooner you can start shopping for more fabric! (Or go to the beach!)
Quilt shown on cover is called Cherry Pie (54" x 66").

Rooster Hollow
I have always loved French country decorating.  When I saw these roosters in a furniture store, I had to have them.  Then, of course, I had to sew a quilt to go with them!  The black & beige toile fabric adds to the French feeling.  This quilt would also look nice done in blues & reds.

Petals
The curves in this quilt are created through appliqué, not curved piecing.  The light medallions are appliquéd on top of the green floral background.  The result is soft & romantic.
Grandma's Dishes
The curves in this quilt are created through applique, not curved piecing.  It's quick & easy to make.  My colors are pastel, so the circle effect is subtle.  Done in stronger colors, the circles would really pop.

Sand Castles
One day I looked at my fabric stash & realized I had a lot of vintage styled floral pieces that were too small for anything but a scrap quilt.  The result was this project, which was an indulgent joy to create.  I got to play with a lot of pretty fabrics & the blocks themselves were a breeze to sew.  I highly recommend it.
65" x 76"
Old Garden Rose
This twin quilt has a grand look, but is actually quite easy to make, thanks to big blocks & simple appliqué shapes.  The secret to success is finding the right fabrics.
69.5" x 92"
Daisy Chain
This quilt is made like a traditional Irish chain quilt, only using appliquéd daisies instead of pieced squares.  The jumbo sized white eyelet border is sewn on last of all, into the edge.  Perfect for your favorite daisy princess!
50" x 70"

Grand Old Flag
I designed this quilt for my own family room wall.  Where it currently hangs.  I think the border would also look great done in a plaid or check.

Grand Old Flag & Anchors Away quilts from Seaside Cottage Anchors Away
My father used to love visiting the boat docks near our home in Southern California.  I think it reminded him of his childhood, growing up on the beach.  He never did own a boat of his own, but, like most things, dreaming about it brought its own kind of joy.
